About

We are here to serve our community with compassion, love and dignity

GBNCC was founded by Pastor Pierre-Louis Zephir in 1996 as a voluntary ministry of the Haitian Church of the Nazarene Friends of the Humble to respond to the spiritual and socio-economic needs of its community and particularly of the Haitians residing in Boston. We are located at 130 River Street in Mattapan, Massachusetts.
The Center is situated in the heart of the community of the immigrants in need of its services. The Center stands in a perfect position to be the centerpiece between differing groups of people to help overcome the economic, cultural, and language barriers that exits. There is a sense of trust and safety attached to a “Faith-based Center” that makes it an ideal place for people to seek help for themselves. The Center has the adequate space, ideal location, and the concerned individuals who are committed to seeing people succeed academically, as well as socially.

Our Commitment

Greater Boston Nazarene Compassionate Center is committed to serving our community with compassion, dignity, and unwavering hope. Rooted in our faith and guided by a deep love for our neighbors, we work to break down barriers—economic, cultural, and linguistic—so every individual can thrive.

Our Mission

GBNCC’s mission is to provide relief and support to the most vulnerable, distressed, and underprivileged people in the Boston area, especially new immigrants, while improving educational outcomes and life opportunities for youth and adults.

Our Visions

Our vision is to be a trusted place of support and empowerment, where families find nourishment, newcomers find belonging, and young people discover their potential. We strive to build a stronger, more equitable community by offering programs that uplift, educate, and open doors to opportunity, always honoring the inherent worth of every person we serve.

Our Experience

For over 30 years, Greater Boston Nazarene Compassionate Center has faithfully served the community through a wide range of programs that uplift and empower families. From youth development and tutoring to our vibrant food pantry and health education initiatives addressing HIV, obesity, breast cancer, and diabetes, our commitment to holistic care runs deep. We also offer ESOL classes that help newcomers thrive in their new environment. Each year, more than 10,000 families benefit from our services, and over one million pounds of nutritious food are distributed with dignity and compassion. Our decades of service reflect a legacy of hope, equity, and unwavering dedication to the well-being of every neighbor.
